The 2026 edition of the Island Champs concluded on Sunday at the Daren Sammy Cricket Ground, with dominant performances from St Joseph’s Convent in the girls’ division and Vieux Fort Comprehensive in the boys’ category.
St Joseph’s Convent secured a commanding victory in the female division, amassing 281 points to finish well ahead of their nearest rivals.
Vieux Fort Comprehensive Secondary School placed second with 205 points, while Saint Lucia Sports Academy took third on 179 points.
The Convent’s triumph was built on consistent performances across multiple track and field events, allowing them to establish an early lead and extend it throughout the meet. Micoud Secondary (109 points) and Beanefield Comprehensive (98 points) rounded out the top five in the girls’ standings.
In the male division, Vieux Fort Comprehensive delivered a strong all-round showing to claim the championship with 260 points. Saint Mary’s College followed in second place with 206 points, while Saint Lucia Sports Academy again featured prominently, taking third with 139 points.
Micoud Secondary (137 points) and Leon Hess Comprehensive (132 points) completed a tightly contested top five in the boys’ standings, highlighting the depth of competition across the field.
The 2026 Island Champs, now in its third staging under the rebranded format, drew strong participation from schools across the island and delivered high-quality performances, reinforcing its status as Saint Lucia’s premier inter-secondary track and field event.
