Prime Minister Philip J. Pierre was officially sworn in today for a second term in office, reaffirming his commitment to national development and effective governance.
The ceremony, held before a distinguished gathering of officials and regional dignitaries, marked the beginning of another chapter for Saint Lucia under Pierre’s leadership.
In his remarks, Prime Minister Pierre expressed gratitude and confidence as he looked toward the next five years. “I am excited and optimistic about the future of Saint Lucia. I pledge to do my best for the development of my country,” he said. He described the moment as one of humility and honour as he accepted the responsibility to continue serving as Prime Minister with oversight of the Ministry of Finance, National Security and Justice, Constituency Development and People Empowerment.
“God bless our island Saint Lucia,” he added, closing his address with an appeal for unity and collective effort in the years ahead.
The ceremony was attended by several Caribbean leaders who travelled to Saint Lucia to witness the occasion, including the Prime Ministers of Antigua and Barbuda, Gaston Browne; St Kitts and Nevis, Dr Terrence Drew; Grenada, Dickon Mitchell; Barbados, Mia Amor Mottley; Dominica, Roosevelt Skerrit; and St. Vincent and the Grenadines Opposition Leader, Dr. Ralph Gonsalves.
Pierre’s second term begins at a time of economic recovery efforts, ongoing social development initiatives, and heightened attention to national security and justice reform.
His administration is expected to continue work on fiscal stability, youth empowerment, community infrastructure, and policies aimed at improving living standards across the island.
