Emancipation Day 2025 in Saint Lucia falls on Friday, August 1 and is a public holiday marking the abolition of slavery in the English-speaking Caribbean.

The Prime Minister will discuss the successes of his administration over the past four (4) years, highlighting the achievements made in youth employment, economic development, infrastructure, education, healthcare, and other key sectors.



Lucian Carnival 2025 climaxed in an explosion of colour and culture during J’Ouvert and the Parade of the Bands on Monday, July 21, and Tuesday, July 22. A total of 10 bands competed in this year’s national Parade of the Bands and 7 in the J’Ouvert Parade.

The Carnival Planning and Management Committee announced the winners on Wednesday, 23 July, 2025 during a live press briefing held at the Bay Gardens Hotel. The results from J’Ouvert and the National Parade of the Bands are as follows:

Lucian Carnival 2026 will be held from July 1 – 22, 2026.

A total of 10 bands with over 7,000 revellers will take to the streets on Monday, July 21 and Tuesday, July 22, for the Parade of the Bands for Lucian Carnival 2025.

The parade will begin at 10 am on both days at the Choc Roundabout. The 10 participating bands include Xuvo Carnival Band, Fuzion Mas, Tribe of Twell, Xpressions Carnival Band, Island Tribe Carnival Band, Royalities Xtreme Carnival Band, Just 4 Fun, Pheonix Carnival Band, Legends Carnival Band, and Insonmeil Carnival Band.

Parade Route

The route for the Parade of the bands is as follows. The parade will commence at the Choc Roundabout and head south utilizing the south bound lanes towards the Vigie Roundabout, then turn right onto the John Compton Highway into the city. The Bands will then turn left onto Jn. Baptiste Street for judging near Anchorage, then make a right onto Darling Road, right onto Jeremie Street, left onto Peynier Street, right onto Micoud Street, right onto Manoel Street, right onto Jeremie Street and left onto John Compton Highway where they will make their return to the Choc Roundabout.Parade of the Band Route

The Carnival Planning & Management Committee (CPMC) is working closely with the Royal Saint Lucia Police Force, Saint Lucia Fire Service and Ministry of Health to ensure the safety of all revellers and spectators. Fully staffed medical tents will be strategically located along the parade route to provide immediate response to any emergencies. The Royal Saint Lucia Police Force will be out in full force across both days, ensuring the safety, order, and smooth flow of the festivities.

The Royal Saint Lucia Police Force (RSLPF) has issued its Traffic Management Plan for the two-day event. Motorists are urged to observe all signage, follow directions from traffic personnel, and make use of alternative routes and back roads to avoid unnecessary congestion and delays. Park and Ride services are available for revellers from Orange Grove parking lot and near Northern Electrical in Bois D’Orange.Bank Road Traffic Route into the City

Organizers are appealing to all patrons and residents to plan ahead and exercise patience and caution during this festive period.

The 2025 King and Queen of the Bands competition treated patrons to an unforgettable showcase of artistry with 18 costumes: including 9 queens and 9 kings, on display. The Competition held on the evening of Monday, July 14 is one of the most visually stunning events on the Lucian Carnival calendar and features costumes that soar over 30 feet in height, in a visual parade of history, myth, and fantasy.

Tribe of Twel Carnival Band swept the stage at the 2025 King and Queen of the Bands Competition, capturing both the King of the Bands title, and the winner and first runner up slot in the Queen of the Bands category. True to their reputation, Tribe of Twel’s costumes were nothing short of spectacular, marked by the grandiosity and intricate detail that fans have come to expect from the band. Pantime Steel Orchestra claimed top honours at the Republic Bank Panorama Competition 2025, with their powerful and patriotic rendition of “Damn Proud Lucian” by Sly. Their electrifying performance earned them 258 points, ending the six-year reign of Courts Babonneau Steel Orchestra, who placed second in this years competition.

The return of the soloist segment brought a fresh dimension to the festivities, celebrating the virtuosity of individual pan players. The winners of the solo competition are as follows;

This year’s Panorama competition followed the highly successful National Schools Pan Festival, which took place earlier this season. The National Schools Pan Festival showcased the promising talent and passion of young steel pan musicians and was designed to ensure the sustainability of the culture of steel pan.

The final competition under the Saint Lucia Carnival calendar, King and Queen of the Bands, will be held this evening Monday, July 14, at the SAAB, Vigie. King and Queen of the Bands is a free event and features performances by DYP and leading Saint Lucian artists.

The streets of Castries came alive for the 2025 Junior Carnival parade with vibrant colour, youthful energy, and cultural pride on Sunday, July 13, 2025.

Nine junior bands with 20 spectacular Junior King and Queen costumes, lined the city with music, and creative expression as they danced their way along the route from Serenity Park through Peynier Street, Micoud Street, Bridge Street, and onto William Peter Boulevard, where the main judging point was located.

Adding to the celebrations, participants from the Primary and Secondary Schools Calypso and Soca Competitions performed their original songs during the Junior Carnival parade. These performances were a reminder of the depth of young talent in Saint Lucia and emphasized the importance of sustaining the festival’s musical and cultural legacy by actively involving youth in every stage of the Carnival experience.

The 2025 Junior Carnival Festival is a signature of the Lucian Carnival calendar and feeds directly into its cultural development and sustainability pillars, promoting youth engagement, artistic mentorship, and the preservation of Saint Lucia’s rich Carnival traditions. This year’s junior activities also included a Schools Tour, the National Primary and Secondary Schools Soca and Calypso Monarch Competitions, and the National Schools Pan Festival, each providing a platform for Saint Lucia’s youngest creatives to showcase their talent, and love for culture.

After an extremely competitive night of calypso, Dezral has once again emerged victorious, reclaiming the title of champion at the 2025 Calypso Monarch competition. This marks his second title of the 2025 Carnival season, after securing the Power Soca crown for his hit collaboration with Jardel, “The Car”.

9 extremely talented calypsonians delivered two rounds of social and political commentary, hoping to dethrone the reigning monarch. But despite their strong performances, Dezral won over the judges earning him a triumphant return to the throne. The results for this year’s Calypso Monarch Competition are as follows:

The 2025 Calypso Monarch competition was held at the Sab, Vigie on Saturday, July 12, 2025. 

The exciting weekend of competition continues with the Junior Parade of the Bands and the Republic Bank Panorama Competition on Sunday 13, July, and King and Queen of the Bands on Monday, 14 July.
