Feed The Poor Ministry is moving full steam ahead with its annual Christmas outreach, determined to serve a festive lunch to at least 200 vulnerable individuals despite noticeable challenges in securing sponsorship this year.
Founder of the organization, Gaspard Henry, explained that the need always increases during the holiday season.
He noted that “normally we serve 175, however we realize when you go 175 there are persons who do not come for meals throughout the year. But during the Christmas season you just see people coming from nowhere, from all walks of life.”
As a result, the Ministry plans “to target at least 225 meals” and is appealing to anyone who can support. Henry added that “if there are any persons I say that can bring some meals that are already in the plates,” the contribution would make a difference.
However, the Ministry has been affected by a decline in sponsorship. Henry shared that “a few persons who maybe have lost their jobs so they could not really contribute like before and maybe other factors may be the reason why some have stopped.”
Even so, he expressed deep gratitude for partners who have remained committed. “Those who have persevered like FLOW and others, thank you from the bottom of my heart,” he said.
The goal is to ensure that no one leaves empty-handed on the day of the event.
Henry explained that the Ministry intends “to ensure that everybody that come on that day receive something.” As part of the annual tradition, the menu will feature what he described as their usual Christmas gala: “our apples, our turnovers, the meals, the juice, the water, whatever we have.”
Despite challenges, Feed The Poor Ministry remains steadfast in its mission of compassion, hoping that members of the public and private sector will continue to lend support so the spirit of giving can reach everyone in need this Christmas.
