The fatal shooting of 25-year-old Giovanni Joseph in Ciceron on February 21st has pushed Saint Lucia’s homicide count to 10 for 2026, as investigators intensify efforts to bring those responsible to justice.
According to Assistant Commissioner of Police Luke Defreitas of the Royal Saint Lucia Police Force, the young man succumbed to his injuries shortly after the incident.
“Twenty-five-year-old Giovanni Andrew Joseph was pronounced deceased by medical personnel shortly after he received multiple gunshot wounds in the Sisoro area,” Defreitas confirmed.
Law enforcement officials have already made significant progress in the case, with several individuals currently assisting police investigations.
“As we speak, three people are in custody, of course, assisting with this investigation,” he stated.
However, the investigation remains active, with authorities pursuing additional suspects believed to be connected to the killing.
“The police are pursuing a further two suspects that we hope to have in custody by later today,” Defreitas added.
He indicated that more details will be made available as the case develops, particularly as it relates to potential charges.
“As these investigations unfold, we will update the press on where we’re going in terms of the procuring of any charges.”
