As another birthday approaches without answers, the family of missing Cuthbert Hyacinth is renewing its appeal to the public for information that could help bring an end to more than two months of uncertainty.
Hyacinth has been missing since Tuesday, June 2, 2026, leaving relatives searching for answers and hoping that someone may know what happened to him.
His sister, Marylin Hyacinth, said the family’s pain has only deepened with the passage of time.
“Somebody like that who is known, who is well known, the family’s known, always being seen on the road to have just disappeared in a vanish like that.”
“So we just can’t understand and it is heartbreaking.”
She said the family continues to live with uncertainty and is pleading for anyone with information to come forward.
“We need closure. We need to know where he is. We need to know whether he’s being taken care of. We need to know what is happening to him,” Hyacinth pleaded.
Marylin said Hyacinth’s disappearance has affected not only his immediate relatives but also his children and extended family.
“There are lots of concern.”
“He has children. He has family and we need to know what’s going on.”
In the weeks following his disappearance, family members and volunteers organized several search efforts, but these have since been scaled back after repeatedly covering the same areas.
“Initially, I think for the first few weeks, we had search parties and so on.”
“And more or less we have stopped… searching around, because it’s a matter of repeating all what we have done.”
Despite suspending organized searches, the family has not given up hope that someone may have information capable of helping investigators locate Hyacinth.
Marylin described several places her brother was known to frequent before he disappeared.
“He would visit places where he normally goes to.”
“He would come here because this is where his mother used to live.”
She added that he also regularly visited other relatives across the island.
“Then he would go by an aunt of mine who lives at Bois D’Orange.”
“And then the other place he would have gone to is Morn-Serent in Grand-Rivière where he has family members there.”
With Hyacinth now missing for more than two months, his family is once again urging anyone who may have seen him or has information about his whereabouts to come forward, hoping that even the smallest piece of information could help bring long-awaited answers and much-needed closure.
