Saint Lucia’s Minister for Education, Youth Development, Sports and Digital Transformation, Kenson Casimir, has met with school principals and vice principals, stressing the importance of collaboration, accountability and innovation as the country works to modernize its education system in response to global changes.
The engagement brought together senior education officials and school leaders to discuss ongoing reforms and the collective responsibility of leadership within the sector.
Chief Education Officer, Beverley Dieudonne, underscored the critical role of school leadership in driving meaningful change across the system.
“Principals and vice principals, your leadership is pivotal to the success of every reform we undertake,” Dieudonne said.
“As we engage with our ministers today, let us do so with professionalism and a shared determination to advance the education system for the benefit of every child in Saint Lucia together.”
She added that progress in education depends on a sustained focus on leadership and student outcomes.
“Through strong leadership, student-centred approaches, skills development and sustained capacity building, we will continue to educate, inspire and transform,” Dieudonne stated.
Addressing the gathering, Education Minister Kenson Casimir acknowledged the long-standing challenges facing the sector but reaffirmed the government’s commitment to continuous improvement.
“Although we have so many challenges in our education system, most of which will not be solved in one year or two years or three years, they can rest assured that no stone will be left unturned and no effort will be spared to continue the work we’ve had in education,” Casimir said.
The minister emphasized that transformation would require persistence and collective effort across all levels of the system.
He expressed confidence in the direction being taken, adding that the goal is “to ensure that the Saint Lucia education system is beyond doubt the best-run education system in the entire Caribbean.”
The meeting forms part of ongoing consultations aimed at strengthening leadership, fostering innovation, and ensuring that Saint Lucia’s education system remains resilient and responsive in an increasingly digital and globalized world.
