One of Saint Lucia’s most celebrated Carnival bands, Tribe of Twel, has officially launched its costumes for the 2026 season, delivering a vibrant showcase of creativity, culture and artistic ambition.
The highly anticipated unveiling offered a first look at the band’s evolving vision, blending global inspiration with the signature energy of Saint Lucian Carnival, while highlighting the work of local designers, artisans and performers.
Creative Director, Adrian Augier, praised the execution of the launch, describing it as a moment filled with pride and collective achievement.
“I really cannot complain, and I do not say that lightly because I am a fairly hard taskmaster,” Augier said. “It was well done. The vibe, the atmosphere was full of joy and love and pride, and people felt good about themselves and what they had produced. It was excellent.”
A key feature of this year’s presentation is its emphasis on inclusivity across age groups, a deliberate move to reflect the true spirit of Carnival.
“We are showing our younger face, not putting on a younger face,” he explained. “This is a band of a wide range of ages. Our oldest model is well over 50, and our youngest is in her 20s. That is what Carnival should be. It should have a place for all people.”
Augier noted that the 2026 theme represents a significant shift from last year’s focus, expanding beyond local traditions to a more global narrative.
“Last year was very local, very Creole, very traditional Saint Lucian celebration,” he said. “This year it is a broader agenda, spanning civilizations, continents and centuries, from ancient Greece to modern society.”
The band is also stepping up its presence in media and marketing, embracing a more confident and outward-facing approach.
“We have always had broad appeal, but we have been a little shy about putting it out there,” Augier admitted. “This year we are less shy. We are saying this is us, and we are doing it big and doing it as we think it should be done.”
With its dynamic themes, inclusive casting and renewed confidence, Tribe of Twel is positioning itself once again at the forefront of Saint Lucia’s Carnival, promising revelers an immersive and culturally rich experience for 2026.
