The community of Bois Patat is once again grappling with violence following the fatal shooting of 26-year-old Nicholas Ryan Rogers, in an incident that has also left a female nursing multiple injuries.
The latest shooting adds to a growing list of attacks involving young men in the area over recent weeks, intensifying unease among residents.
According to Saint Lucia Fire Service Press Officer Sherise John, emergency personnel responded to the incident on the evening of Saturday, March 28.
“Officers of the Saint Lucia Fire Service responded at 5:27 p.m. to a gunshot wound incident at Bois Patat,” John stated.
She reported that upon arrival, first responders encountered an injured female already receiving assistance.
“On arrival at the scene an adult female was found being assisted to the ambulance. She reported that she was ambushed and then attacked,” John explained.
Medical personnel conducted an on-site assessment, which revealed the extent of the woman’s injuries.
“An assessment revealed multiple penetrating wounds to both extremities and the right side of her waist,” she said. “She was treated and then transported to a medical facility for advanced medical care.”
Authorities have not disclosed further details regarding her current condition.
The scene was subsequently handed over to the Royal Saint Lucia Police Force for investigation.
While officials have yet to release comprehensive details surrounding the circumstances of Rogers’ death, the incident has heightened concerns about escalating gun violence in Castries, particularly within Bois Patat.
Residents have expressed growing alarm over the frequency of such attacks, especially those involving young men, and are calling for urgent interventions to address crime in the community.
The latest killing underscores what many see as a troubling trend, with calls mounting for strengthened security measures and sustained efforts to curb violence and restore a sense of safety in the area.
