The Carnival Planning and Management Committee (CPMC) officially launched Lucian Carnival 2026 this week, unveiling a dynamic programme that blends cherished traditions with fresh initiatives designed to enhance the festival’s reach, energy, and accessibility.
CPMC Chair Tamara Gibson outlined the committee’s priorities, highlighting youth development, community engagement, and innovation as cornerstones of this year’s festival.
“As we prepare for Lucian Carnival 2026, our mission is clear: to build on the strengths of past festivals while innovating in ways that keep the celebration vibrant, relevant, and inclusive,” Gibson said.
A central focus, she added, is engaging young people across Saint Lucia.
“In 2026, Lucian Junior Carnival will be repositioned to strengthen our commitment to nurturing the next generation of cultural leaders, performers, and creatives. Theatre arts students from secondary schools will now take part in planning and executing national events throughout the season,” Gibson explained.
She also highlighted the reimagined National Carnival Queen pageant under the Queens for Change initiative, emphasizing youth, leadership, and community impact.
“Each delegate will champion causes relevant to society, using their platforms to drive positive change and foster meaningful engagement in their communities,” she said.
Gibson further announced the return of Line Jam, now integrated into Vaval en Ville, offering Saint Lucians a space to enjoy Carnival rhythms freely.
“Vaval en Ville allows everyone to chip down the road in their t-shirts and shorts, celebrating the music and spirit of Carnival without barriers. Carnival must remain accessible and affordable. The culture belongs to all of us, and everyone should have the chance to participate,” she added.
The committee also unveiled the face of Lucian Carnival 2026.
“This year’s face of Carnival is Ms. Tyler Theophane,” Gibson announced, noting that the costumes worn by Tyler and past Carnival faces are locally designed and produced by Chic, owned by Lucia Antoine.
“This season, we will continue to engage our Lucian Carnival brand ambassadors to promote the festival locally, regionally, and internationally,” she said.
Lucian Carnival 2026 promises to honor tradition while embracing innovation, youth leadership, and broader community participation across the island.
