Port Soufriere has marked another milestone in its expanding cruise tourism development with the inaugural call of the luxury expedition vessel Star Seeker, signaling growing interest in smaller, boutique ports across the region.
The vessel’s arrival was welcomed by representatives of the Soufriere Regional Development Foundation, port officials, and cruise partners, who highlighted Soufriere’s appeal as a destination defined by scenery, culture, and personalized experiences.
Lovely Saint-Aimé-Joseph, Corporate Communications and Marketing Manager at the SRDF, expressed confidence that the visit would not be a one-off.
“We have no doubt that although this is your first time, we will see you many other times in Port Soufriere because our hospitality is legendary, our views are iconic,” she said. “Welcome to Port Soufriere from the Soufriere Regional Development Foundation.”
Port Agent Clare Joseph, speaking on behalf of the Foxman Company, also underscored the importance of the call and the service being offered at the port.
“On behalf of the Foxman Company, the management and staff, we want to welcome you to Port Soufriere in Saint Lucia,” she said. “We look forward to more calls from Star Seeker. This plaque represents dependability, reliability, and superb service that we are offering.”
Captain Tom Schofield of Star Seeker, representing Windstar Cruises, thanked local stakeholders for the reception and praised the destination.
“On behalf of not only Star Seeker but Windstar Cruises, thank you so much for the warm welcome to the island of Saint Lucia and Port Soufriere,” he said.
“It is a real pleasure to be here. I know our guests will treasure the time here and certainly treasure the magnificent views and the warm hospitality.”
Captain Schofield added that the visit marked the beginning of an ongoing relationship with the port. “It is a pleasure to be here and, as you say, the first of many calls,” he noted.
Officials say the inaugural call reflects a broader trend in cruise tourism, with travelers increasingly seeking intimate ports that offer authentic experiences, a niche that Soufriere is well-positioned to fill.
