Housing Minister and Castries Central MP Richard Frederick has expressed gratitude and renewed commitment to his constituents in a heartfelt Christmas message, reflecting on the challenges of the past year and the resilience of the people he serves.
Addressing residents of Castries Central, Frederick thanked voters for once again placing their confidence in him at the polls.
“I am grateful to you, the people of Castries Central, for the confidence you have placed in me. You have elected me for a fifth time to be your parliamentary representative. I am deeply and sincerely thankful for your trust,” he said.
He described the responsibility as one he carries with humility and a strong sense of duty.
“This is an honour I do not take lightly and a responsibility I carry with humility, commitment, and a strong sense of duty,” Frederick stated, while assuring constituents of inclusive representation. “Whether you supported me or not, I remain firmly committed to serving every single constituent without exception.”
Frederick highlighted his collaborative approach to leadership throughout the year, noting that community input played a central role in shaping policy and projects.
“Throughout the year, I have embraced an inclusive style of leadership, having had the privilege to work alongside a dedicated and capable team focused on the betterment of our constituency,” he said. “Many of the initiatives and projects we pursued were shaped by your ideas, your feedback and experiences. Your voice helped inform policy priorities and your suggestions strengthened the outcomes for Castries Central.”
Reflecting on 2025, the Housing Minister acknowledged the economic pressures faced by households and businesses amid global instability.
“2025 brought its share of difficulties, including effects of wider global challenges that continue to affect nations large and small,” he said, pointing to rising prices driven by international conflicts and supply chain disruptions.
Despite these challenges, Frederick said the defining feature of the year was the resilience of the community. “What stood out to me most during this period was the strength, the generosity, and the determination of our people,” he noted. “I witnessed neighbors supporting one another, communities coming together, ordinary citizens doing extraordinary things through simple but powerful acts of kindness.”
He said those actions reflected the national independence theme. “These actions truly embodied the spirit of our independence theme, Douvan Ansanm, Moving Forward Together,” Frederick said.
The Castries Central MP also extended thanks to frontline workers and key sectors. “I also take this opportunity to express heartfelt thanks to our healthcare workers, teachers, emergency responders, and many of those are also people of Castries Central for your unwavering dedication and sacrifice,” he stated.
He praised business owners, entrepreneurs and workers for sustaining the economy, calling them “the backbone of our local economy,” and thanked young people and volunteers for their energy and commitment to service. Frederick also acknowledged community, faith-based and traditional leaders for promoting unity, dialogue and peace throughout the city.
Looking ahead, Frederick said he remains committed to working closely with residents in the year to come.
“This shared approach serves as a reminder that meaningful progress is best achieved when leadership and community work hand in hand,” he said. “I look forward to your continued support and guidance as we go together in the new year.”
