A 32-year-old man from Marchand has died after the vehicle in which he was travelling veered off the road and plunged over a precipice in Au Pos, Anse La Raye, on Sunday morning.
The Royal Saint Lucia Police Force said the fatal collision occurred at approximately 7:55 a.m. on July 26.
In a statement, police said officers attached to the Anse La Raye Police Station responded to reports of the crash shortly after it occurred.
“On Sunday, July 26, 2026, about 7:55 a.m., officers attached to the Anse La Raye Police Station responded to a report of a vehicular crash at Au Pos, Anse La Raye,” the statement said.
Preliminary investigations indicate that the vehicle, an orange Toyota Aqua, left the roadway before going over the precipice.
“The preliminary investigation revealed that an orange Toyota Aqua veered off the road and went over a precipice,” police stated.
The vehicle was occupied by two people, both of whom were rescued by emergency personnel from the Saint Lucia Fire Service.
“The vehicle had two occupants, who were attended to by personnel from the Saint Lucia Fire Service and transported by ambulance to the Owen King EU Hospital,” the statement noted.
Police said the male occupant later succumbed to his injuries.
“The male occupant succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced dead by a medical practitioner,” the statement said.
He has been formally identified as 32-year-old Andrez Forde of Marchand, Castries.
The female occupant remains hospitalized.
“The female occupant remains in stable condition,” police confirmed.
The Royal Saint Lucia Police Force said investigations into the circumstances surrounding the fatal crash are continuing.
