The Carnival Planning and Management Committee (CPMC) has officially announced the winners of the 2026 Lucian Carnival competitions, with Xuvo Carnival Band capturing the coveted Band of the Year title following two days of vibrant street parades.
The results were unveiled during a press conference on Wednesday, July 22, where CPMC Chairperson Tamara Gibson congratulated the winners across the various judging categories, including Ole Mas, J’ouvert, Parade of the Bands and Road March.
Xuvo secured the Band of the Year title with its portrayal, ‘A Midsummer Night’s Dream,’ amassing 414 points. Tribe of Twel placed second with ‘1226 Gold’ with 408 points, while Fuzion Mas finished third with ‘F1: The Race of Life’ with 400 points. Legends Carnival Band placed fourth with ‘1001 Fantasies: Arabian Nights’ with 387 points.
“The winners for Band of the Year 2026 for Lucian Carnival is Xuvo Carnival Band, A Midsummer Night’s Dream, with a total of 414 points. Congratulations to all of you,” Gibson announced.
Xuvo also claimed the Best Designed Band award with 127 points. Tribe of Twel finished second on 125 points, followed by Just4Fun with 122 points and Fuzion Mas with 121 points.
Gibson said, “In first place, Best Designed Band goes to the band Xuvo, A Midsummer Night’s Dream, with 127 points.”
In the Individual of the Year competition, Sharon Tanner of Tribe of Twel emerged victorious with 431 points. Jordan Augier finished second on 428 points, Winston DuBoulay placed third with 415 points, and Amara Alexander secured fourth place with 412 points.
Gibson noted that fifth place went to Safiya Paul of Tribe of Twel with 409 points.
“We have Sharon Tanner, Individual of the Year, with a total of 431 points. Congratulations to all the winners,” she said.
The Section of the Year category ended in a tie, with Fuzion Mas’ ‘Genesis’ and Xuvo’s ‘Fairies’ both receiving 76 points. Just4Fun’s ‘Firefly’ placed third with 75 points, while Tribe of Twel’s ‘Zuma’ finished fourth on 74 points.
Meanwhile, Legends Carnival Band won the Spirit of Carnival title with 413 points for ‘1001 Fantasies: Arabian Nights’. Fuzion Mas placed second on 398 points, Xuvo finished third on 397 points and Island Tribe came fourth with 372 points.
Fuzion Mas also captured the Mas on the Move title with 84 points. Xuvo placed second with 80 points, Xpressionz Carnival Band finished third with 72 points and Tribe of Twel came fourth with 70 points.
The Road March title went to Andrew with ‘Biscuit,’ after judges recorded the song as the most played along the official parade route.
“In first place, we have ‘Biscuit’ from Andrew. So we want to congratulate all our winners this morning,” Gibson said.
Tally Boy, Sedale and Prod Bozo finished second with ‘Bum Bum Whistle,’ Ezra placed third with ‘Salute,’ while Bobo and Samo secured fourth place with ‘Actimo.’
The committee also announced the results of the Ole Mas competition.
Julian Calderon claimed the Ole Mas crown with his presentation “At My Age, I Have Everything Going ,”r Me.” Arthur Charles finished second with “Saint Lucia Police Belly Standing, Belly Walking, Belly Running,” while Carlton Ishmael placed third with “These Days, I Belly Meet My Friends.” Ronald Cox placed fourth with “The Lady Father Albert.”
“I want to congratulate all the winners,” Gibson said.
In the J’Ouvert competition, Back in Time J’Ouvert Band captured first place with ‘The Power of the Youth,’ scoring 416 points. Mudsters placed second with ‘Mud Army: Let’s Make Mud Not War’ on 357 points, Tire Shop finished third with ‘Heat’ on 337 points, while We Outside placed fourth with ‘Sailor and Pirate: Conqueror of the Sea’ on 303 points.
The announcement concludes the official judging for Lucian Carnival 2026, bringing to a close another highly competitive season of mas, music and cultural celebration.
