The following is a press release from the Rotary Club of Gros Islet:
The Rotary Club of Gros Islet officially installed June Daniel as its President for the 2026-2027 Rotary year at its annual Handover and Installation Ceremony, held on Saturday, 27th June 2026 at The Landing Resort and Spa, Rodney Bay. The evening also saw the installation of the club’s new Board of Directors, with acclaimed Saint Lucian writer MacDonald Dixon delivering the feature address.
President Daniel takes the helm as the club enters its 34th year of service to the communities of Gros Islet and Saint Lucia, and as Rotary International launches its 2026-2027 theme, “Create Lasting Impact,” introduced by RI President Olayinka Hakeem Babalola of Nigeria.
“What do we want our legacy to be? How do we ensure our efforts ripple across Gros Islet and beyond for generations to come?” President Daniel asked in her inaugural address. Her answer was a commitment to high-impact service: “This year, we will dedicate our resources, expertise, and hearts to sustainable, transformative initiatives that address real, documented needs in our community… we will ensure that the Gros Islet footprint is both measurable and unforgettable.”
“We will actively share the joy of Rotary with our community, showcasing our work to inspire others to join us in action,” she added, pledging to keep the club’s eyes “fixed on the lives we are privileged to change” and inviting residents, businesses and organisations to partner with the club in the year ahead.
Under her leadership, the club will sharpen its focus on high-impact, sustainable service while continuing its signature legacy projects: the Annual Charity Golf Tournament, the School Breakfast Feeding Programme, the Annual Christmas Hamper Distribution, the Grow Well Project, and the CARE Project. The club also recently chartered three Interact clubs — at Patricia James Secondary School, the International School, and Corinth Secondary School — deepening its investment in Saint Lucia’s young leaders.
President Daniel paid tribute to Immediate Past President Jason Lang and the outgoing board for a year of dedicated leadership, and thanked The Landing Resort and Spa for hosting the ceremony.
