The 2026 Saint Lucia Jazz and Arts Festival was officially launched on Thursday, January 22, setting the stage for another vibrant celebration of music, culture, and creativity from April 30 to May 10.
This year’s festival features a diverse and internationally appealing lineup, including Dexta Daps, Tems, Beverly Knight, Tye Tribbett, Billy Ocean, and several other regional and global performers, as organisers promise an experience that reflects both the soul of Saint Lucia and its growing global appeal.
Chairman of the Cultural Development Foundation, Darwin Garde, used a creative culinary metaphor to reveal this year’s national icon, honouring a figure deeply rooted in Saint Lucian culture and excellence.
“A delicate legacy soufflé, light, yet lasting, leaving a warm, memorable impression long after the final bite,” Garde said. “This year’s national icon is none other than the one and only Joseph ‘Chef Harry’ Edward.”
Garde’s announcement was met with warm applause, as Chef Harry Edward was recognised for his contribution to Saint Lucia’s cultural and culinary heritage, reinforcing the festival’s commitment to celebrating national excellence across disciplines.
Chairman of the Saint Lucia Tourism Authority, Thaddeus Antoine, emphasised that the festival’s lineup was carefully curated to reflect the identity of the destination rather than chasing popularity alone.
“From the very beginning, our commitment was clear. We were not simply building a lineup for the sake of popularity,” Antoine stated. “We are building a lineup that reflects the soul of our destination, one that blends seamlessly with the undeniable persona of Saint Lucia.”
He added that the festival was designed to capture the island’s character and cultural depth.
“Our warmth, our creativity, our rhythm, our elegance, and the depth of our culture. We wanted a festival that spoke to who we are while resonating with the world,” Antoine said.
While several headline acts have already been announced, Antoine hinted that even bigger names are still to come.
“Even while tonight, we will not be unveiling what I believe is the main, main, main artists,” he explained.
“Because we believe, along with the management of the artists, that we need a special launch for that. And so, in the coming weeks, we will announce the main artists of the festival.”
According to Antoine, the current lineup strikes a strong balance between local resonance and international appeal.
“This year’s lineup is attractive, I assure you, for our home audience, because it feels familiar, relevant, and rooted. At the same time, it is compelling to international visitors because it tells a story of a destination that is vibrant, cultured, and confidently Caribbean.”
He also highlighted the festival’s importance as a strategic tourism and branding platform.
“From a destination marketing standpoint, this festival is one of our main powerful awareness platforms,” Antoine noted. “Through this festival, we continue to invite the world to experience Saint Lucia, not just as a place to visit, but a place to feel welcome, to connect and to return to with fond memories.”
Antoine stressed that the impact of the festival extends well beyond entertainment.
“The effect we are seeking goes far beyond the stages. It’s about Brand Saint Lucia. It’s about driving visitation, extending the length of stay, supporting our creative industries, and ensuring that our people remain at the heart of our tourism product.”
With anticipation already building and further artist announcements on the horizon, the 2026 Saint Lucia Jazz and Arts Festival is shaping up to be one of the island’s most dynamic and culturally significant events of the year.
